Electrophysiology Study & Ablation

An electrophysiology study (EPS) is an invasive method to evaluate the electrical impulses inside the heart and to “watch” as they go around the heart.  Using this, the electrophysiologist is able to diagnose and then treat the abnormal heart beats in order to try toimprove the patient’s condition and quality of life.

EPS and ablative therapy has been more frequently used alongside medications for the treatment of tachyarrhythmias.

Ablation can occur with radiofrequency or cryoablation (freezing).  Be sure to speak with your doctor regarding what options would be best for you.
